Owning a boat

Own your own boat on the Great Ouse

Imagine owning your own boat. You'll have a holiday home that you can use any day, any weekend or evening.

The River Great Ouse is home to a wide range of boats from small powered dinghies to cruisers and narrowboats.

There are large number of boatyards dotted along the river that sell new and used boats to fit varying budgets.

Before you buy your boat you'll want to consider where you'll moor it.

Once you've got your boat and have a mooring lined up you'll need to register your boat.

Once that's all sorted you just need to work out where you want to go and familiarise yourself with waterway signs, rules and etiquette. The Boaters Handbook produced by British Waterways and the Environment Agency should help.
