Location and facilities at Baits Bite Lock

Baits Bite Lock is a fully hydraulic , push-button controlled lock on the River Cam. There is no lock toll at the lock but you will require a navigation key to operate it.

The footbridge at Baits Bite Lock is the only pedestrian crossing between Chesterton and Horningsea.

The lock is regulated by the River Cam Conservancy. If you are boating in this part of the river - upstream of Bottisham Lock - you will need to register your boat with the River Cam Conservancy. See Other navigation authorities for more details.

At certain times during the year, regattas and races are held on the stretch of river between Baits Bite Lock and the boathouses near Midsummer Common. You can find details about the races being held on the River Cam Conservancy website or see one of their notice boards.
