Location and facilities at Reach lode Lock
Reach Lode is located on the River Cam.
As with many rivers, the River Great Ouse was used in the past primarily for water transport. The vast quarries at Reach are evidence of the large amount of chalk that once was transported by water.
The ancient village of Reach still has strong links with its past through the fair. Today the fair is an annual event in the village over the May Bank Holiday. It dates back to the 10th century.
