Location and facilities at Hermitage Lock

Hermitage Lock is one of the two manned locks on the River Great Ouse, the other being Denver Lock. They are both manned by Environment Agency lockkeepers.

The original Hermitage Lock was constructed around 1968. Facilities have been available at the lock since its recent refurbishment in 1997.

The River Ouse is tidally influenced between Brownshill Staunch and Hermitage Lock for a distance of 3.6kms (2.2 miles). However, levels do not affect passage between these two locks.
