Location and facilities at Brownshill Staunch Lock

Brownshill Staunch dates back to 1834 and is located on the Great Ouse.

Today the lock is operated by two electric guillotine gates. Over 38 miles from the sea, the Staunch marks both the tidal limit and the eastern edge of the low-lying fenland.
