Location and facilities at St Ives Lock

St Ives Lock, on the Great Ouse, has a pair of upstream pointing doors and a downstream guillotine gate.

According to legend, St Ives originally started life with the name Slepe, the Saxon word for 'muddy'. A prominant marker in the town is the Priory, which was built on the site in 1017.
