Location and facilities at Houghton Lock

Houghton Lock, on the Great Ouse, has a mill next to it which has been in existence for over 1,000 years. It was purchased by the National Trust in 1939. The building has been restored, a water wheel reinstated and a hydro-electric turbine installed.

The mill is open to the public and demonstrations of the working mill take place on certain days throughout the year. It is well worth a visit when passing through Houghton Lock.
