Moorings

Many visitor and permanent moorings are available along the Great Ouse river system, some of which are provided by the Environment Agency and open to all river users. Private moorings are also present along the river.

 Mooring rules and tips

  • You must not moor your boat within 36 metres (118ft) of any lock, sluice, weir or water intake, apart from when you're navigating through a lock.
  • In some cases, such as the Denver Sluice, you must not moor within 100 metres (328ft) of both sides of the structure.
  • You must not use landing stages at either side of the lock for overnight mooring.
  • If you use a visitor mooring at a marina or public house, you may need to pay for using the facilities at the marina or be a patron of the public house.

You will find many Great Ouse Boating Association (GOBA) private moorings on the River Great Ouse. You can use their moorings by paying to become a GOBA member.

If you own land next to the river and want to construct a mooring, contact the Environment Agency on 08708 506 506 for details of the consents and permissions that you may need.
