Different types of boat

It's safe and easy to take to the water on the Great Ouse.
If you've never been in charge of a boat before there is no need to worry - you'll get full instruction before you move off and before you are free to cruise the waterway.
You can hire a boat for a week, day or just a few hours. Some companies will even drive it for you. Further information on the different types is outlined below. You also might want to check out the 'Top Tips' for boaters page.
Daily/hourly hire
Most companies offer day boats and many offer rowing boats, skiffs, canoes and dinghies, so no matter how energetic you're feeling there is something out there for you.
Weekly hire
Many boats are equipped with home-from-home comforts. They offer hot water, showers, flushing toilets, modern kitchens, a high standard of furnishings and comfortable sleeping arrangements. Your hire boat operator will explain everything and give you full advice about cruising, mooring and using the locks.
