Downham Market

Downham Market is one of Norfolk's oldest market towns. It's a fascinating and traditional place of the Fens.

Nicknamed the 'Gingerbread Town' because of so many houses being built of the distinctive carrstone that was quarried in the town, Downham Market is brimming with historic buildings. It's a great place to do some exploring.

If you're looking to enjoy the outdoors, then you can go birdwatching at the nearby Welney Wetlands Centre run by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust.
