Romantic walk across Portholme Meadow
Nicola tells us about a spring walk she took with her partner and their dog. They both work in Huntingdon but have never spent any time in the area outside of work hours. So as a way of exploring, they got walking.
Where did you go on your trip?
As we live in Peterborough and wanted to take our dog Mackie along, we hopped in the car and headed to Godmanchester. We tend to head over to the Rutland area but thought we'd have a change of scenery. We walked across Portholme Meadow and stopped in Brampton for a spot of lunch at the Mill near to the lock.

What were your thoughts about your walk?
It was really pleasant to explore a new route and even better to finish it off with a cold cider at the pub! For us though the walk was a little shorter than we expected but next time we’ll venture a little further.
Having worked in Huntingdon for eight months it was interesting to explore the countryside. We even popped into the town after lunch to do a spot of shopping.
We thought we’d see more boats but if we head back in a few weeks I’m sure there will be plenty to spot. The Meadow was a great open space for Mackie to have a run around in.
How much did it cost?
Well it was very inexpensive. We chose to eat at the pub and go shopping but you could easily take a picnic and cut the costs. Apart from the petrol to get there, it was free.
